Information for selling you lot "By Owner" or "By Realtor"
The SFOA Board of Directors has approved members and realtors to now place "For Sale" signs on their lots. However, to do so, you must adhere to the information listed below, as we want to have consistency in how things are advertised.
In the past only the round white/yellow plates were allowed to be placed on your Lot, to identify it was For Sale (The Deadline is July 1st 2025 for Round Plates to be removed). Most people did not know what they meant or if they did, didn’t remember which meant for Sale by Realtor or By Owner. Now you (or your realtor) can place a sign, subject to the following listed below.
General Sign Requirements for Owner and / or Realtor (subject to any sign being placed)
- No sign may be larger than 10” x 14”
- Signs must be securely staked into the ground – no sign may be nailed to a tree.
- For Sale by Realtor - Your realtor may place a professionally made-up sign, that lists their name, their company name, their phone number, and in their colors. NOTE: It is the Lot Owner’s responsibility to alert their realtor as to what the requirements are for placing signs in Sherwood Forest. Any realtor signs that do not adhere to the Sherwood Forest requirements. The Lot owner will be sent a letter advising them the sign must be removed by a specified date. If not removed the Lot Owner will be issued a $50 fine, which will double each week until the sign is removed.
- For Sale by Owner - Owners who wish to sell their Lot themselves and want to place a ‘For Sale by Owner’ sign in your yard, you may do so with the following - Signs will have to be purchased at the office (and will include a stand) for a fee of $20.00. The "For Sale by Owner" signs will all have a green background, so they will all be uniform and easy to pick out.
