Vern and I will be meeting with Knox Electric Wednesday of next week to plan the next upgrade which will be continued in Derby Town.
Wood Stove
The leak in the pool has been fixed. The maintenance men dug through cement and dirt to locate the leaking pipe. Once located a mini excavator was rented to finish the digging. Dave Harris was hired to operate the excavator after checking with three owners first. Because of the closeness of the building no one felt comfortable taking on this job. It took approximately one day to fix the problem once parts were received. Total cost of this project was under $1,000.
Pools
The hot tub has a major leak that needs to be fixed. It has been patched over the past season and the leaking has been kept to a minimum but it needs to be fixed. I will have estimates for the next board meeting on how much it will take to fix this problem.
The kiddy pool also has a leak that I will get estimates for also.
Both of the above projects will be relatively expensive to fix as the leaks will have to be located before being fixed. Also, the hot tub will have to have a new liner because once the old one is removed it will not be able to be used again.
Nottingham Drain field
This drain field appears to be leaking again this time on the side opposite Robin Hood. Laying the drain tile on the Robin Hood side has worked so we’ll probably end up doing the same thing on the other side. The maintenance men are watching this to determine for sure it is leaking.
The activities during the month of August and September were amazing. Starting with the Corn Feed which was a tremendous success. Then on to Labor Day with the Olympics, Spooky Wagon Ride, The Volunteer Bake Sale and Auction. Each event was well planned and organize and really made a good impression on people. I want to thank all the volunteers that were involved in these activities. Their hard work and dedication are the reasons these events are successful and they provide a great time for all. What a great way to end a season!
We held the Volunteer Recognition Dinner at the Garrison VFW on August 27th. It was attended by approximately 60 –70 people. The food was good and the line dancing was fun. Everyone seemed to have a good time. THANKS TO ALL!
Tim
Modl is still out indefinitely on a medical leave.

Kelly
McCormick (Banbury Block 3, Lot 25) and Caron Grussendorf (Banbury Block 3, Lot
26 set up at table at the Labor Day Flea Market to collect donations for tree
replacement around Robin Hood. They
collected $172. Thanks to all who
donated.

At
Kelly and Caron’s table I placed a survey asking the owners if they wanted
shrubs or trees around Robin Hood because I felt the owners should make this
decision. There were 90 surveys
collected and the vote was pretty much split between each. Joe Tupy has donated two Pine Trees which
made the decision easier, but I feel we should have shrubs also since the vote
was so close. The plan would be to
place the Pine Trees back far enough behind Robin Hood so as not to hide him,
plant shrubs in front of the trees, then build a brick garden box in front of
him and fill it with flowers. I need
the Board’s approval for this project.

Sherwood
Forest had a clump of five trees removed from behind Banbury Block 3, Lot
26. These trees went over during the
storm and were leaning over this owner’s buildings. It was a dangerous situation that has been rectified.

A
prank call was made from the telephone located by the rest rooms in the
clubhouse, to 911at the end of August.
The call mentioned a specific lot in London Town. When the vehicles arrived, not only were the
lot owners surprised because they had not placed the call, but the emergency
workers and our employees (including myself) were confused. It was finally determined that the call was
a prank. This was an embarrassing
situation especially since five emergency vehicles showed up. Sherwood could have been charged for this
call. Since that time I have removed
the phone from that area and left a sign for people to get the phone from the
front desk if needed.
Thanks
to all the volunteers that have helped with renovating or fixing things around
the clubhouse. This includes the mini
golf course, the front doors, the playground, the fishhouse and the
shuffleboard area. It was amazing how
much work could be accomplished in such a small time when volunteers kicked in
to help. THANKS TO ALL!
_______________
Water
Shut Off: This is usually the 2nd
weekend in October which this year falls on the 9th. I would like permission to extend this to
the next weekend (weather permitting) since the 9th is relatively
early. I would need board approval
for this.
_______________
When
will the next meeting be and will it be held at Naughty Pine? (October Board Meeting and Planning
Meeting.) If it is at the Naughty Pine,
I will need to know who will be attending (board members and spouses.)
_______________
I
would like to remind everyone that if you’ve had an address change or changed
phone numbers within the past couple years, please stop at the front desk and
fill out a change form. One of the
reasons some people did not receive a phone call during the big storm is we did
not have the correct information.
